Materials
What material is your jewelry?
The primary material on all our jewelry is 14k Gold Fill. For stones we use colored or clear Cubic Zirconia.
We use Gold Fill because it is tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin, and a more accessible price than Solid Gold.
We use Cubic Zirconia because it not mined, it is not sensitive to heat like some other natural stones, and birthstone jewelry made from Cubic Zirconia is price-accessible to everyone! Otherwise the April babies would be stuck paying $$$ for Diamonds unlike the February babies who can get Amethyst for a great price!
We offer custom orders in .925 Sterling Silver or Solid Gold. Place a custom request here.
Why Gold Filled?
Gold-Filled is the closest alternative to Solid Gold jewelry.
An economical substitute, Gold-Filled jewelry is tarnish-resistant, hypoallergenic, and long-lasting, just like Solid Gold. Gold-Filled jewelry has a thick layer of Solid Gold heat and pressure bonded onto the base layer, usually brass or sterling silver.
Unlike Gold Plated Jewelry, which is made by using an electroplating process that quickly dips your jewelry in gold and results in a thin coating, Gold-Filled Jewelry is much more durable and long-lasting.
Gold-Filled Jewelry contains 5% gold by weight and is made by bonding a thick layer of gold to a core metal under heat and pressure, resulting in a much more secure and durable ‘coating’.
Gold-Plated Jewelry contains 0.03-0.05% Solid Gold, while U.S. standards require Gold-Filled jewelry to contain 5% Solid Gold - this means that Gold-Filled Jewelry contains 100x more gold than Gold-Plated Jewelry!
How strong are your magnetic clasps?
Our Magnetic Clasps are strong enough to remain closed until they are given a firm and intentional tug apart.
They are strong enough to withstand the wear and tear on everyday jewelry. They are strong enough to pick up several paperclips, and neatly stick to each other when multiple necklaces or bracelets are worn in a stack.
Can I wear this jewelry in the shower or during my workout?
Yes! You can safely wear your LucyKitty pieces in the shower and while working out. They are waterproof and tarnish-resistant.
We recommend not wearing your jewelry in the shower if you use any medicated soaps or lotions, as these can contain harsh agents that could strip your jewelry.
We also recommend taking off your jewelry before going into swimming pools or the ocean, as saltwater and chlorine can shorten the life of your jewelry.
Will it tarnish?
The short answer is: No!
Our jewelry is designed to be tarnish-resistant and holds up well to daily wear and tear. With proper maintenance, your Gold-Filled jewelry can last for decades!
How should I care for my jewelry?
Every few months, you can clean your jewelry with some mild soap and water, then give it a pat dry with a soft towel - that's it!
You can also use a Gold Polishing Cloth to restore luster and shine.
With regular cleanings and polishings, your jewelry will look new for decades.

Accessibility
I have very sensitive skin. Is this jewelry right for me?
Yes, our jewelry is hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin. You can rest easy knowing that there are no strange green lines or uncomfortable rashes in your future.
This is something that is very important to us and forms a core part of our Mission and Design Philosophy. Our founder, Sanjana, has very sensitive skin too, and it is a big part of the reason she started LucyKitty!
Due to the way that Gold Filled Jewelry is constructed, all that ever touches your skin is Solid Gold, which is among the top materials to wear if you have sensitive skin. Our jewelry is nickel-free and we never release a piece unless we can be sure it will not cause any allergy concerns.
What clasp style should I choose?
We are partial to Magnetic Clasps, because they make wearing your jewelry so incredibly easy, but we also offer the option for a Regular Clasp on all our jewelry. Here are some more details:
Magnetic Clasp
If you are tired of struggling to clasp your jewelry, add a magnetic clasp! These clasps are incredibly strong, and will only open with a strong enough pull. These are a must have for:
- Wearers of reading glasses - no more squinting at your clasp trying to open or close it
- Those who like to keep long nails - let's be real, fiddly clasps are not happening with these talons!
- Mothers of young ones - kids like to grab and pull stuff, be it hair or jewelry! Magnetic clasp necklaces simply open when pulled instead of breaking into little choking hazards.
- Folks with mobility issues of any kind - a bad shoulder, arthritis, you name it - these clasps make wearing jewelry easier and more accessible.

Regular Clasp
Right-handed Clasp: Are you right-handed? Pick this option and we’ll put the clasp on the right-hand side (this is the standard for most necklaces)
Left-handed Clasp: Did you know that about 10% of all people are left-handed? If you are part of the special few and are tired of struggling to open clasps with your non-dominant hand, select a left-handed clasp and we will ensure the clasp is on the left-hand side of your necklace. Your mornings are about to get so easy!
I like to sleep in my earrings, which style should I choose?
If you like to leave your earrings in while sleeping, we recommend trying our Flora style earrings. These leverback style earrings snap close in the back for a secure fit and have a smooth rounded back that prevents any poking or discomfort while you sleep.
What earrings are best for a new piercing?
New piercings can be very sensitive, and it is important that they heal right! That is why we recommend wearing only earrings made from hypoallergenic materials in your new piercings like 14k Gold Filled or Solid Gold.
Our Gold Filled Studs are the perfect option for new piercings, and are especially great for younger ears due to their minimal size.
Orders and Returns
How long will my order take to arrive?
Every order is carefully handmade in our studio and is shipped out 1-4 business days after receiving your order.
U.S. orders are usually delivered within 3-7 days. International shipping times can vary widely, but usually arrive within 15-30 days. Expedited shipping options are available at checkout.
Please note that shipping times may be longer during the holiday season as mail services experience high volumes and delays! We recommend promptly placing your orders during this busy time to allow enough time for shipping.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we offer international shipping on all our orders.
To view options for international shipping, enter the destination address at checkout and all carriers available for that country will be updated. Simply select your preferred carrier and we will use them to ship your order. FedEx, UPS, and DHL are available for most countries.
Please note that customers are responsible for all applicable customs fees, if any. Double check your email address and phone number at checkout, as your country's customs office will use this information to contact you if needed.
How do I make a return or exchange?
You have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Step 1: Contact us at hello@lucykitty.com with your order number or receipt. Please let us know the reason for the return. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Step 2: We will review your return request and respond to you within 48 hours. We’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package.
Step 3: Once we receive your return, we will inspect the items and if approved, a full refund minus the initial shipping cost will be refunded to your original payment method. Customers are responsible for any return shipping costs.
Step 4: Your return is complete and refund is processed. Please note refunds may take 2-3 weeks to process and show on your account due to varying processing times between payment providers.

Do you have a warranty?
At LucyKitty, we stand behind the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry. We are pleased to offer a 1-year limited warranty on all our pieces which covers breakage and tarnishing under normal wear conditions for one year from the date of purchase. If your jewelry experiences any issues within this period, simply reach out to us at hello@lucykitty.com, and we will be happy to repair or replace the item free of charge.
