How to care for your gold-filled jewelry
Share
In addition to buying the right materials, it's imperative to take good care of your jewelry if you want it to last!
💧 WATER & CHEMICAL CONTACT
While you can wear gold-filled jewelry in the water, we do recommend avoiding doing so if you can. That said, if you prefer to wear your jewelry every day and hardly ever remove it, we recommend only investing in gold-filled or solid gold pieces so you don’t have to worry about wearing them in water ✨
Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, skincare, creams, harsh or medicated soaps and shampoos, chlorinated water, bleach, ammonia, and anything containing sulfur as corrosive agents can greatly shorten the life of your jewelry 🧪
🧼 RESIDUE & CLEANING
Over time, natural body oils and residue can cause your jewelry to lose its luster.
💖 You can clean your jewels using warm water and a mild soap about once a week, using a soft toothbrush (only if needed!) to reach any tough spots.
💖 Pat dry with a soft cloth - do not rub as this can cause scratches on the surface and erode the material.
💖 Once dry, your pieces can be safely stored in the microfiber pouch they came in or in a closed jewelry box away from sources of humidity.
💖 If you notice any dulling or darkening, you can use a special gold-polishing cloth to restore the luster of your cleaned jewelry.
When properly cared for, gold-filled jewelry can last a lifetime!
