Our Mission and Design Philosophy

LucyKitty is on a social mission to make jewelry more accessible, personalized, and better for people with sensitive skin.

Accessibility meets Consideration

Everyone is welcome

With a focus on inclusivity, we have introduced magnetic clasps that make necklaces and bracelets easier to wear for those with mobility problems, ensuring that they can enjoy the beauty of jewelry without any physical limitations. Since their first introduction, our magnetic clasp jewelry has gone on to help more people than we ever imagined - making wearing jewelry easier for:

  • Wearers of reading glasses
  • Parents worried about young children tugging and breaking their jewelry
  • People with arthritis / shoulder mobility problems
  • ...and so many more wonderful jewelry wearers

Every necklace in the world is made for right-handed people, but what about the lucky 10% who are left-handed? We offer the option to choose a left-handed clasp on all our necklace, bringing ease and accessibility to previously overlooked left-handed jewelry lovers.

Your skin comes first

No more green lines!

At LucyKitty, we believe that everyone should be able to wear beautiful jewelry without worrying about skin irritation or discomfort. That's why it is a central part of our mission to provide high-quality, hypoallergenic jewelry made from skin-safe materials like 14k gold fill.

We understand that many people with sensitive skin are limited in their jewelry choices, and may even have to forego wearing jewelry altogether. We want to change that by creating a line of jewelry that is accessible to all, regardless of skin type or sensitivity. We believe that everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable in their jewelry, and we're committed to making that a reality.

By using only hypoallergenic and skin-safe materials, we are committed to ensuring that our customers can enjoy our jewelry without experiencing any adverse reactions. Our goal is to create a line of jewelry that is not only beautiful but also safe and comfortable to wear.

Making it meaningful

Furthermore, we offer a unique and personalized experience by providing customization options. Customers can design and create their own meaningful jewelry to honor loved ones, making each piece unique and sentimental.

Mass market is not it

The overall standard that we accept from our jewelry in terms of build quality and materials is extremely low. This was not always the case. Think back to the pieces your grandmother passed down as heirlooms or the quality of a good vintage find. Before mass market fashion started affecting the quality of everything from clothes and shoes to jewelry, the baseline standard for the construction and quality of a piece was much higher.

This reduced standard means our jewelry tarnishes faster and irritates our skin. Even though it's cheap, it means we spend more money overall because we are always replacing and rebuying jewelry that broke or tarnished. That is to say nothing of the heartbreak we experience when jewelry we were given by a loved one tarnishes or breaks, and we can't wear it anymore.

Jewelry can have such sentimental meaning and brings us together - and it just doesn't sit right with us that the overall quality for something so meaningful is so low.

This low quality also means we use and throw more jewelry every year and every decade, which is extremely wasteful for the planet and not at all sustainable! We aim to create pieces with longevity in mind, and with proper care most of our pieces are heirloom quality - so you can rest easy knowing that you are doing right by Mother Earth.

Plastic Free Packaging

Because the planet comes first

At LucyKitty, we pride ourselves on the fact that absolutely zero plastic is used in our packaging. Our jewelry pouches are reusable microfiber to keep your pieces protected, our external packaging is uncoated cardboard and paper, and we use paper tape to secure our boxes. We use uncoated paper whenever we can, ensuring that our packaging can be recycled in most places.

On the occasion that any plastic does come in to our studio, we do our best to reuse and recycle it wherever we can - reusing plastic baggies to store our studio supplies and reusing bubble wrap to pack orders from our retailers.

Our commitment to longevity in our pieces and remaining anti-wasteful extends to our philosophy on packing your orders and saying no to single use plastics.
